that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

After Christmas Post

Well, we had a great Christmas here. My hubby got 11...yes 11 days off of work!!! This has been the best Christmas leave ever! He is off until after New Years!!! This is a real treat for us.
We had a good Christmas eve day. I think that we started a new tradition. We went out to eat at Chili's for lunch, and instead of ordering meals for everyone, we ordered different appetizers and shared all around. We don't often order appetizers, so this was a real treat for us. The kids loved it, and I was so surprised at how much less money we spent. Then we went and saw Santa Clause at our BX. We don't teach our children to believe in Santa Clause, but it was fun for them to get to see him. We always tell them that Santa is not real. Then we came home and made a delicious ham dinner, and read the Christmas story out of the Bible and read "Twas the Night Before Christmas". Then we went out to see Christmas lights. That is a yearly tradition for us. We like to go to a candlelight Christmas eve service, but they were running too early and late this year, so we missed it.
Christmas day is our family day. We open presents and have doughnuts and play all day. It is a lot of fun for the kids, and us too.
Now we are gearing up for New Years. We are planning to have banana splits and a meat and cheese and cracker tray and some homemade punch. I have to come up with a recipe for the punch...if anyone has one they would like to share, I'd be ever so grateful. (No alcohol tho...we don't drink and this is also for the kids). The kids get to stay up until midnight if they can make it. It's the one night of the year we encourage them to stay up!  :) A real treat for them!
Well, I hope that all of you had a Very Merry Christmas and that you have a great New Years! I would love to hear all about your Christmas holiday traditions, so feel free to leave them in the comments.
Happy New Year!

  1. How wonderful that you've gotten that extended time with your husband home!! Sounds like a wonderful Christmas celebration. I had an incredible punch at my son's church dedication but can't locate a recipe. I know it had orange juice, sherbet and 7Up, but not sure what else. It was so yummy.

I think our favorite New Year's as a family was when our friends from France had us to their house for "fromage" fondue - fromage means cheese! After the cheese fondue we ate Romaine lettuce with balsamic dressing, they said the lettuce helped soak up the fat from the cheese! Hope your New Year celebration is lovely.
